Constructive Criticism Is Not Judging You
Along the path of self-improvement is being able to take constructive criticism. No one is always right. The sooner you understand that the better off you will be. Constructive criticism is not judging you. It is simply telling you something about yourself that you need to work on. Human beings are a work in progress. None of us are perfect, nor will we ever be, but that doesn't mean that we can't be the best that we can possibly be. When someone gives us a compliment we are all smiles. Yet, if someone tells us something that we need to hear (and we know it whether we admit it or not) we take it as an insult and get offensive. As a friend of mine always tells her kids you have to take your no's like you take your yes's. It's the only way we can improve ourselves. If we don't correct what we are doing wrong, than it will only get worse. Like the saying, "If you keep on doing what you been doing you keep on getting what you been getting" that usually refers to something that you are doing wrong.
In reality no one really enjoys being criticized. No one wants to hear what they are doing wrong. Why? Because it can be very hard to look in the mirror sometimes, we would rather look at someone else than ourselves. All criticism is not bad. If you saw someone that wasn't doing something right, wouldn't you want to tell them? Maybe they didn't know and maybe they would like to know.
If you're the type of person that gets offended or argumentative every time someone tries to tell you something than people won't tell you anything. What kind of person will you become? I'll tell you right now. The kind of person no one will want to be around. If for some reason that one day you want to correct someone you see doing something wrong, just be ready for them not to care two cents what you have to say. Because people are very good observers. They will see how you act when someone try's to advise you.
In this world people will judge us. It's the only way that you can know if a person is good or bad.
People usually do judge you on your actions. Human beings do not have the power to know what is in someone's heart only Allah does. So, we should make sure that our actions are good. Regardless, of what people say we know that we have all judged someone at one time or the other. It really doesn't make sense to tell someone that they are judging you if they are trying to offer you some good advice. Your actions reflect what is in the heart. The inner reflects the outer. So, if your actions are bad usually what's in your heart is too, and vice versa.
