Preparation Is The Most Important Element In Believing

Preparation is the most important element in believing. To be prepared to do anything, a person must practice it perfectly with an exact objective in mind. Perfect practice requires a precise repetition of skills or thoughts. The best way to practice anything is through a continual and exact verbal, mental or physical repetition of words or skills.
Arthur Ashe became one of the most successful and popular tennis players in the history of the game. He recognized the importance of preparation towards success.
"One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation."- Arthur Ashe
Confession is Preparation
God's Word says that we can move literal mountains as a result of what we confess. The only requirement is that the person doesn't allow doubt to creep into their heart. They must totally believe that what they say shall absolutely come to pass.
Mark 11:23 - For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
If we are not receiving what we believe we should in life, then it is up to us to start confessing that we will have it. In this way, we are preparing our believing for the day when we are going to receive what we are believing for. Believing what we say can move mountains in our life.
Meditation is Preparation for Success
Today, meditation has come to mean a constant repetition of a "mantra" of one word, formula or phrase. Our current dictionaries define it as a continued or extended thought; a reflection or contemplation. This word has been watered-down in dictionaries to mean something much less than what it truly means. God's word defines what it really means and implies.
Joshua 1:8 -This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
God was encouraging Joshua to keep the book of the law [His Word] in his mouth by meditating. He was telling Joshua that this would result in him be able to do what God was telling him that he could do. As a result of this verbal meditation, his way would be prosperous and successful.
The Word of God has to be confessed in order for it to be believed by the person that speaks it. It must continually be spoken in order to guarantee success in life. Verbal repetition is the key to believing what God says about us. Someone can tell us that we are great at something, but we won't really believe that this is true until we tell ourselves over and over again that we are great at it and then do it.
Meditation Increases Confidence
Confidence has a lot to do with what a person confesses about themselves or someone else. The word "confidence" has the word "confide" in it. A believer must confide in themselves through meditation and confide in God through prayer. Meditation is much more than just thinking about something. It also includes a positive confession of what that person believes to be true, as well as ensuing action toward that objective.
Meditation increases a person's confidence in their ability to succeed. Success is guaranteed when a person prepares properly through repetition and then puts their practice into action. Believing requires action because it is a verb. God's Word makes this very clear in the book of James.
James 1:23-25 - For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: [Gk- esoptron- mirror] 24- For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25- But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Confidence Leads to Success
Howard Twilley was only 5' 10" tall and weighed 185 lbs. So he was comparatively small for the NFL. At the end of his career in the NFL [after 11 seasons], he averaged 14.5 yards per reception for a total of 3064 yards. Twilley played on the only unbeaten Super Bowl championship team from 1971-1972. He credited his success to faith rather than hard work.
"When I was younger, I thought that the key to success was just hard work. But the real foundation is faith. Faith [the idea that 'I can do it'] is the opposite of fear ['what if I fail?']. And faith creates motivation which in turn leads to commitment, hard work, preparation... and eventually success."- Howard Twilley
Too many people never get started on their journey to success in life because they fear success. First they doubt that they can do what is required. Then, through repetition of this doubt, they worry about success. Then this worry grows into a fear of success. The progression to success, on the other hand, starts off with confidence which then leads to trust and ultimately to faith.
Sometimes there may be obstacles in our path to success. Think of believing like water building up against a dam in the river. As long as the water keeps building up, there are only two things that can happen: Either the water eventually flows over the dam or the pressure of the water up against the dam breaks it down so that the water can bust through.
Conclusion
In order to cross over into the Promised Land like Joshua and enjoy the fruits of our labor, we must first confess to ourselves and even to others that we are going to get there. Through repetition of this confession, we are building our believing to receive what we desire.
We all can prepare our minds and our abilities to achieve success. It takes perseverance to remain confident. Preparation through continual practice of positive confession is the most important element in achieving the victory we believe for.
